Full-time tutor with ten years of experience
Hi! I'm Maia.
I have worked as an educator for her entire career. She attended Swarthmore College, one of the top-ranked liberal arts colleges in the US, where she studied English Literature, Educational Studies, and French Language and Literature. After obtaining her certification in secondary school teaching, she taught English Language Arts in public school classrooms for 6 years. She then became an online tutor at Revolution Prep, one of the largest providers of online SAT/ACT test prep, where she raised the scores of hundreds of students over almost 10 years. During this time, she also obtained her Master's in Comparative Literature at Paris IV Sorbonne Université.Maia scored a perfect 800 on the Reading section on two separate sittings as a high schooler herself and, over the course of nearly a decade teaching SAT prep full-time, has developed a deep understanding of common reading comprehension errors and grammar weak spots. She is also very fluent in SAT math and is skilled at breaking it down to students to whom math may not come naturally. At this point, she knows the SAT inside and out!She also teaches reading comprehension, Algebra I, AP Literature, and college essay writing. In her spare time, Maia enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and learning.
